A Photographer's State Of Mind

What sets me apart from other..."photographers" is how I see things. I feel I have an ability to find true quality in a photograph. I don't just take pictures to make things look pretty or because it's the popular thing to do. I take them to remember moments in time. Inspired from the time I was little, being photographed by my dad. Never posing for many pictures. I see now how beautiful a photo can be without manipulating the people or object within it. The photo at the top right taken by my dad, was un-posed and very candid. He happened to catch my sister and I looking at something just out of camera view. The bottom right photo looks very posed, but its not. He simply told me to "look up" and snapped the photo.

My life would not be the same without pictures. I see things differently than most people. Looking at the whole scene, rather than just the subject. I feel the need to include the surroundings, no matter what they are. They tell you more about the world being lived in, in the photo.

I am easily offended when someone tells me my camera is nice. Wishing I could tell them to have a brain, instead I just say thanks and keep snapping. I do not know how to make it any clearer. Your camera does not make you. It only gives you high quality, it is up to you to take control and create the other elements. Cameras and editing software can drastically hinder your creativity no doubt. But a real, precious, unforgettable moment can be taken with a canon powershot or a canon EOS 40D. It would not make a difference to me. Because at the end of the day a good photographer can
see the real beauty in any photograph...
